What are you reading?

Can we talk about what you're reading? I'd love to pick up a book recommendation or two!

The book I'm reading is Ask Me Nicely by Amy Andrews.  I'm only a couple of chapters in but I'm loving it. Plus, I adored No More Mr Nice Guy (the hero is the brother of AMN's heroine), so I was already pretty sure I'd love it. Sexy, funny, sweet.

Just before this I read Anna Campbell's These Haunted Hearts. It's a novella, it has two couples trying to find their HEA, and a haunted bed. How cool is that? It had been on my kindle for a while and I'm probably behind the rest of the world in that I only just got around to reading it. I shouldn't have waited!

Before that I had a bit of trouble - I started about four books and couldn't get into them. That was probably because they had to follow a great book - I'd just finished Indecent Proposal by Molly O'Keefe. This book was recommended by Anna Campbell (so she's on my list twice this time!), and she was right. Intense, sexy, compelling.

So, over to you. What are you reading? Or what was the best book you read recently?

  1. Rachel, love reading recommendations! And thanks so much for mentioning Haunted Hearts!!! Isn't Indecent Proposal great? So hoped you'd like it as much as I did. I absolutely loved that heroine - she was so strong and true to herself and real. Such a great read. I must check out the rest of the series - loved that one.

A book I read recently that I really enjoyed is Helene Young's Northern Heat. I think she writes brilliant romantic suspense - and she uses setting like a master. This one's set in Cooktown with a cyclone bearing down on it - seriously edge of the seat stuff.

    1. Anna, the Chinese bed was seriously creepy, and I loved the heroine. I also loved seeing the hero's love from the points of view - the heroine who doubted him, to his own POV where he loves her, to the ghost watching and thinking that the hero is so totally in love. :)

Helene's writing is fabulous, but sadly I'm a 'Fraidy Cat who cant read suspense. Love the idea of a cyclone bearing down on Cooktown though - great setting!

  2. Hi Rachel

I love recommendations as well but truly I am so far behind in my reading :) I have just read Joanne Dannon's debut Falling for Mr Wrong and it is a great story and the setting is Israel and Jerusalem and in one scene the hero walks out of the Dead Sea waves a fan to cool me down and I have also not long finished Naked a Novel of Lady Godiva which I truly enjoyed as well by Eliza Redgold and I am reading Annie West's The Sinner's Marriage Redemption loving it and just about to finish then onto Kandy Shepherd's new one woohoo I need a housekeeper so as I can keep reading :)

    Have Fun
    Helen

I loved Anna's haunted hearts as well and I have the new novella calling to me as well

    1. Helen, I can always count on you to give me a serious list of recommendations! Joanne's Falling for Mr Wrong was already on my radar, so it's good to hear that you liked it too!

I saw a couple of people talking about the Lady Godiva book - I must check it out. And Annie and Kandy are always sure bets for a great read, aren't they? I don't have their latest, so I must rectify that!

I'm with you on needing a housekeeper so I can read more!

  3. Thanks for the recommendations, Rachel.

My recent reading list is dedicated to Byron Bay Writers Festival books. I'm on a panel with Honey Brown and Krissy Kneen so reading their latest offerings. Enjoyed Honey's Six Degrees which weaves a web of interconnected characters and explores the powerful role sexual attraction plays in everyday life. Have started Krissy's The Adventures Of Holly White And The Incredible Sex Machine and it is shaping up to be a wild romp of a book.

    1. Jen, they sound great! I haven't read anything by either author, so I must see if I can find those titles. Thanks!

  4. Can't disclose two of my more recent reads just yet even those one of them was actually a re-read. I loved NMMNG and Ask Me Nicely when I read them. Currently I've been making my way through JS Scott's Billionaire Obsession series along with The Diet Delusion (although I'm already struggling at the Intro).
I've got several books to catch up on reading that I've received from authors or have bought to read as the latest to read in my must read series or must read authors list.

    1. Lyn, I haven't read any JS Scott, so I'll keep an eye out for them. Now I'm curious abut your current reads!

  5. Sounds as if you've been reading some fab books, Rach! I can almost snap you as I recently read Anna Campbell's novella THREE PROPOSALS AND A SCANDAL. It was a lot of fun. In a novella mood, I also read one from our fellow Cat Annie West -- BACK IN THE ITALIAN'S BED, another fab read.

And two other recent standouts are Serena Bell's TURN UP THE HEAT (ex-con hero which was really interesting) and Liz Fielding's VETTORI'S DAMSEL IN DISTRESS -- fabulous, Liz always delivers the goods.

And now it seems I need to add that Molly O'Keefe to my pile. :-)

  6. I read These Haunted Hearts last year and absolutely loved it!! I've got Amy's one on my Kindle, must get through that TBR pile.

I'm currently reading Blood Bath & Beyond by Michelle Rowen and Almost a Bride by Sarah Mayberry - both are great so far!

    1. Stefanie, given that you've listed Amy, Anna and Sarah - three of my favourites - I can tell I'll need to check out the Michelle Rowen as well. Thanks for the tip!
